Polyphon Disc Musical Box With Bells

This is a table-top disc musical box with 12 saucer bells.

It was manufactured by Polyphon Musikwerke in Leipzig, Germany. Polyphon was one of the 'big three' disc musical box manufacturers that operated between 1885 and 1915 (the other two being Symphonion and Regina).

The wood is walnut and there is a black and white lithograph inside the lid, typical of those found in many musical boxes.

The music is played on two steel combs as well as 12 saucer bells, tuned to accompany the music.

Here you can see the two musical combs and the saucer bells.

The teeth in the separate combs on the right side activate the bells using specially made discs.
