Allard Musical Mantle Clock

This lovely musical mantle clock was manufactured in the late 1800's by the Allard & Cie. of Geneva, Switzerland.

It has a cylinder musical movement in the lower box.

The movement is key wound. The removable key is visible on the right side.

With the clock portion tipped forward, you can see the cylinder mechanism.

The double comb is in sublime harmonie configuration and the double spring barrel allows for long playing time between winding.

The pin protruding from the clock activates the musical movement be depressing the metal plate seen above the cylinder.

The music can be started manually using the middle control lever on the left side. The front control lever is for changing or repeating the tune and the rearmost control lever is for silencing the musical movement.

The case is walnut and has a nicely carved crown and gilt painted incribed designs.
